Leading national car park operator CitiPark has teamed up with Parallax once again, this time to create an easy-to-use mobile parking app for motorists.Available on iOS and Android, the brand new app completely removes the need for people to visit a paystation at any point, streamlining the entire parking process. Customers either scan the QR code on their ticket or enter their vehicle registration, pay within the app, then drive straight out of the car park without delay. Not just an efficient way to pay for parking, the app also features an intuitive pre-booking system, enabling people to reserve a space in advance at any CitiPark location across the UK. Thanks to its friendly, simple interface, users can adjust their arrival time and length of stay with ease, or - if their plans change unexpectedly - cancel bookings at any time. The app dramatically reduces the amount of time customers spend queuing, as well as providing a much smoother experience. We know a lot of people find parking their cars incredibly stressful, especially in busy towns and cities. We’re hoping the app will help eliminate some of the unnecessary stress of parking!,Alongside QR scanning, the app also makes use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition. When customers use the app to pre-book or pay for their space, the entrance and exit barriers automatically lift as the driver approaches them - all thanks to the ANPR technology we’ve linked directly to CitiPark’s internal systems. As a long-time client of ours, CitiPark were keen for us to look into a mobile version of the desktop pre-booking function we developed for them a few years ago. This quickly became an all-in-one solution for both pre-booking and regular payments - as a result, we’ve created a hassle-free version of something that hadn’t changed for decades.,To build an app that delivered on everything the client wanted to see, we used a mixture of third party plug-ins, including a barcode scanner and Facebook/Twitter integration. Everyone’s really pleased with how it turned out!,Designed with a broad range of users in mind, the app features bold iconography, accessible language and CitiPark’s trademark blue and white branding. Along with the app itself, we also developed a new page for the mobile app on the CitiPark website, and an explainer video to go with it. After the initial period of extensive user testing, the app was originally launched for Citipark’s flagship Merrion Centre car park in the Arena Quarter of Leeds. It has since been rolled out across every CitiPark site in Leeds, Manchester, London, Watford, Rickmansworth and Cheltenham, with early reviews extremely positive right across the board.
Used this app for the first time today to prebook a parking space whilst going out for dinner with my friend. I was sent a QR code to use on the barrier but as I arrived at the car park the barrier opened after seeing my car’s number plate! Genius!
The mobile app is yet another significant milestone in CitiPark’s ambition to become one of the most technologically advanced, eco-friendly operators in the industry. This launch marks the first phase of the bespoke app, with a view to integrating digital season tickets and a ‘pay-as-you-go’ feature later this year. Customers are encouraged to download the app now for a chance to win an iPhone XR
